What do I wear? The school auctions are typically business casual and some people dress according to the theme. Feel free to dress up or wear whatever is comfortable.
Who do I sit with? You can put together a table of 10, organize a smaller group or request to be seated at the tables reserved for each grade level.
What goes on that evening? After check-in there is a cocktail hour followed by dinner and dessert. The live auction usually starts during dinner so everyone has plenty of time to socialize later in the evening. The silent auction includes items in the categories of sports, travel and entertainment, health and beauty, for the home, children’s items and class projects. The raffle has themed baskets. The live auction typically has about 12 items which usually raise approximately $1,000- $6,000 each. There are several special, new raffles in 2013 and we'll have horse racing as well in honor of our Derby Night theme.
If I attend, will I be expected to bid on something? There are no requirements for guests at the Auction, other than to have a good time! You certainly don’t need to bid on anything, although we’re sure you’ll be tempted by the wide array of auction items.
Can I review the auction items before the event? Yes, auction items will be posted on this website. The list will be updated frequently, so check back often!
How do I bid on a Live Auction item? The Live Auction takes place during dinner. Everyone attending the event will have an assigned bidder number. When you want to participate in Live Auction bidding, simply raise your paddle to get the attention of a spotter. If you win the item, the spotter will note your bidder number and winnings.
How do I bid on a Silent Auction item? BidPal is an iPod Touch that you will use for all of your bidding. Upon check-in, everyone will swipe a credit card to enable Express Check-out and to receive the BidPal. Using the 6 buttons, you will be able to view descriptions of all of the items, place bids on all silent auction items, view some of our sponsors, set maximum bids for items, keep track of the items you are bidding on, donate to Fund a Need, and even see which items have no bids. It is simple and fun to use! Look for a tutorial on BidPal usage on this website closer to the Auction.
How do I bid on an auction item if I cannot attend on March 2nd? If you are unable to attend the auction, do not despair! You will still be able to buy Absentee Raffle tickets for the Theme and Spirit Raffle items. Complete information and an order form will be available closer to the auction. However, to purchase any Silent or Live Auction items, you must attend the event.
How do I pay for my auction win? Everyone will be on Express Check-out when you swipe your Visa, Mastercard or Discover upon check-in. Your credit card will automatically be charged at the end of the evening. If you prefer, you may pay with cash or a check at Check-out.
